The fluffy material in the pad restores the fibers in the carpet to its original glory.
This is not exactly dry cleaning because even a bit of moisture is required to do a good job of cleaning.
First the carpet is vacuumed and then a dry chemical is spread on the carpet.
When it comes to dry carpet cleaning supplies, the chemical can be a powder, or granules that go right into the fibers dissolving grease and stains.
For this method, you use a bonnet which is fixed to the base of the vacuum buffer, which you dip in carpet cleaning shampoo to buff the carpet.
When you see the dirt getting absorbed to the bonnet, you rinse it and continue until the bonnet is too soiled to be used further.
