amite county high school::There are others that are not in the photo, but are named in the article below.
There was a lot accomplished at the amite county high school on saturday, august 6, 2011.
The wooden partitions and doors were pressure washed and painted, giving the front of building a much nicer look.
The benches on the grounds were pressure washed.
An area of bushes, weeds, and vines were cut down, low hanging limbs were trimmed back, raked up the debris, bagged and hauled off.
Some cleaning was done around bleachers also, but more needs to be done.
Troy lyons brought his flatbed trailer, ladders and many needed tools and equipment for the project.
Most of the yard work tools were brought and used by jesse holland.
Thanks go to principle mcdaniel, assistant principle mcdowell, a teacher, ms.
Bates, as well as coaches slippers and weathers.
And thanks to members of the church of jesus christ of latterday saints.
But most of all, thanks go to debbie hopf, superintendent of education, who helped organize the event, worked and sweat right along with everyone else from start to finish, even though she was not reelected.
She is admired and appreciated for her dedication.
All were wet from perspiring and some were a little wet with paint, and some from mixture of both.
Even the children participated in the work and had red checks and wet hair from prespiration.
There will be another day of service planned but when the weather will be a little cooler.
The date and time will be announced in the southern herald so that the community can plan to participate.
And the members of the church of jesus christ of latterday saints will also be made aware.
Its a wonderful way to give back to the community.
Hope to see many, many of you there next time!
